When the ship sunk on the gulf of Mexico tons and tons of oil is being spilled into the sea. Sure they can try and stop the oil from getting anywhere else but it is still going to contaminate the water and the living organisms in the water. If they just trap the oil it is still going to be in the water so if they burn it the oil will be gone. Sure it releases toxins into the air but if it at sea then not many people at all will be exposed to the toxins so wouldn't it be the best way to get rid of all the oil.
