Just How Much Oil Was Spilt?

I read about the BP oil spill, otherwise known as the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill on Wikipedia. In that article, it said that about 4.9 million barrels of oil was leaked into the ocean in total. That averaged of about 53,000 barrels each day. That's alot of oil. With all of that oil leaking into the ocean, which will affect the animals and humans near the ocean. When birds and other animals try and swim in this oil, they will get coated in it.  Then, when they want to clean themselves, they inhale it all and are poisoned or killed. So, if 4.9 million barrels of oil were leaked into the ocean, just how many animals were killed?
