Still Has A BIG Affect!
All these dead fish aren't from a year ago when the spill actually happened this picture and these fish are from this year! The oil spill is still affect aquatic life in the ocean. I read the article that was attached to this picture and it said that when fishermen went out into the ocean they found fish with large wounds and even holes eaten right throught the tissue of their muscles. They had off coloured skin and some even had stripes when they weren't supposed to. Some of their fins were rotting away as well. This is all because of an infection due to all the oil. This oil spill clearly had and still has a big affect on the ecosystems and food chains in the ocean. The food chains that these fish were apart of will be severly damaged for quite awhile. It will take some time for this species of fish to repopulate and for all the species of above them to repopulate because they most likely woud have died out if their souerce of food was no longer healthy. It will also take time, once this species repopulates, for the species below them to get under control. If nothing was eating them they probably would have overpopulated. I never really thought about how the oil spill is still affecting aquatic life today until I seen this picture! It really made me think about how long things will take before they are back to how they used to be before the oil polluted their water.
